Supporting Lichfield Foodbank this Christmas

7th November 2020

2020 has been an incredibly busy year for Lichfield foodbank – we’ve fed up to five times more people than usual during some months since the start of the coronavirus crisis. As many families face a challenging winter, we are expecting increased demand for our help to continue.

In addition to providing emergency food parcels at three distribution centres a week, Lichfield foodbank also provides a festive dinner bag every year to ensure that nobody is forgotten on Christmas Day. Each bag contains 20 items, all generously donated by local people, as well as fresh veg and meat vouchers. In the first year that the foodbank was open in 2014 we provided 100 bags and the number rose to 420 in 2019. This year, over 500 bags will be needed.

There are lots of ways that you can support us this winter:

  • Donating Food The warehouse shelves are well-stocked with beans, pasta and milk at the moment but all other tinned and packet food donations are hugely appreciated. Both Christmas items and everyday items for our emergency food parcels are very welcome. Download our Christmas food list here: LFB Lichfield Xmas Bag 2020
  • Making a food donation during our big collection in-store at Tesco Extra on November 19th-21st Our volunteers may not be able to greet you this year, but Tesco will still top up every donation!
  • Planning a reverse advent calendar A fun thing to do with family or at work, help us to top up our warehouse stock ready for January by adding a non-Christmas item every day. Download an advent calendar here: LFB Lichfield reverse advent calendar 2020
  • Making a donation or organising a fundraiser for us – find out more at our justgiving page or for details on how to donate by cheque or bank transfer visit our donate money page
