Harvest collections boost food supplies

9th October 2018

It has been an amazing start to the ‘Harvest’ season at Lichfield foodbank. Thank you very much indeed to everyone who has donated so far.

Stocks of food were very low in September but are now starting to build towards a point where we can be confident of having enough food to feed everyone until our next big collection at Tesco at the end of November – this will be a huge help towards finding the extra stock we need for our Christmas food bags.

Well done to the Methodist churches in Alrewas and Lichfield who were the first to donate food this year. Thanks too to schools donating to us for the first time, and also Lichfield Cathedral for their first planned collection. Many schools have asked for speakers at their harvest assemblies and we have just about managed to keep pace with these requests. It has been a pleasure and a privilege to speak to speak to students, parents and grandparents alike.
