Latest Waitrose collection

16th August 2018

One shopper’s extremely kind donation of food and supplies to give thanks for Lichfield foodbank

Another successful collection took place last week, organised in partnership with Waitrose. Volunteers from Lichfield foodbank were in store on Friday 10th August encouraging shoppers to donate to the foodbank.

In just one day, the generous shoppers of Waitrose donated almost a tonne of food and supplies (945.10kg to be precise) to support people in crisis  – a fantastic effort by all involved!

Amongst the collection was one incredibly generous donation from an individual who has experience of using the foodbank first-hand during a time of crisis for her family.  She is now in a much happier position and was keen to share her story and gratitude for the support she received from the foodbank when she needed it most. Her donation alone amounted to £98 and was a carefully selected trolley full of items that a family in crisis may need (pictured above).

The Chair of Lichfield foodbank, David Clarke said “The generosity of our supporters across the city and the surrounding areas has made a huge difference to our food stocks as we continue to support families in need during the school holidays – thank you!

We would also like to say a huge thanks to everyone that came along to volunteer – giving out information on our most needed items, answering questions and encouraging customers to donate.
